About Me

Hi everyone! My name is Monica.

I’m a wife, mother of two little boys, obsessed with my two boxer puppies (they’re 7 but don’t tell them that), living off of coffee, and now I’m the author and creator of the blog, Married&.  I created this space to be able to write about something I’m passionate about and share what I know and am learning.  That thing is marriage.  Or really just healthy relationships, but I’m a huge advocate for marriage.

I’ve spent the last 10 years studying psychology and relationships and have a masters in marriage and family therapy. I love learning about people and relationships and I love getting to share what I have learned.

Through all of this I have to say that the biggest thing that I have learned is how desperately and deeply we as humans need to be seen, feel connected to someone, and have a place where we can let our guard down and be vulnerable. When we can do that, it’s a beautiful thing.  What is even better is when this takes place within our own marriage.

That being said, I know how hard marriage can be sometimes.  Despite our longing to be connected it can be difficult and scary to do this because we don’t want to risk getting hurt or we simply don’t know how to connect like we want and need to. But if we don’t take the risks to reach out we’ll never learn and we miss out on fulfilling our needs and our spouses.

I’ll be the first to say that my own marriage is not perfect and we definitely don’t have it all together.  We’re still learning about each other and how to nurture what we have every day (with many faults along the way).  So as I write these posts just know that I am coming from a place of vulnerability and authenticity (as much as I can even though that’s terrifying at times).  But also know that we are in it with you guys too! The struggle can be oh so very real but SO worth it!  So I hope you’ll stick around and enjoy the stories, tips and advice, research, personal experiences and most importantly that you’ll join me on this journey of making marriage work!
